After learning how to swim as an adult, author Mark Fromberg became a long term organizer of Canada’s largest and longest running open water swim, the Across The Lake Swim in Kelowna, British Columbia. In the last decade, he has supported and coached hundreds of newbies to successfully take on this event, to swim 2.1 kilometers across Okanagan Lake. As a recently retired MD, he has also provided medical support for several triathlons, including Ironman Canada and the Kona Ironman World Championships.
With his swimming, coaching, and medical experience, he wrote the Swimming in Open Water series to encapsulate the processes necessary to become a competent open water swimmer, to share some unexpected benefits, and to encourage all adults to consider shedding their anxieties as they develop their open water confidence.
